The 17 Goals trace a path over the upcoming 15 years, with a view to promoting peace, ending extreme poverty, combating inequality and injustice and protecting the planet. They aim at contributing to meeting people's needs, in both developed and developing countries. Their success will depend on their implementation in each country.
The 17 Goals, which are broken down into 169 targets, will be monitored and evaluated against a set of global indicators, which will be compiled in an annual report. From July 2016 onwards, the UN's Economic and Social Council and High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development will hold regular meetings to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the SDGs on a global level.
Caixa is a member of the UN Global Compact and of the Network Portugal (GCNP). UNGC has a mandate to guide the contribution of the Business Sector in the achievement of the 17 Goals, namely by creating multi-stakeholder dialogue opportunities.
