Caixa awarded in the Environment and Volunteering area.
APEE awards prizes for the Recognition of Social Responsibility Practices to social economy companies and organizations, distinguishing Caixa for its Bank Card Recycling and Young VolunTeam projects. The APEE - Portuguese Association for Business Ethics, held the 2nd Gala for the Recognition of Social Responsibility Practices, on July 12th, distinguishing both profit and non-profit organizations with best social responsibility practices in the Environment categories: Impact Reduction; Community; Market; Stakeholders; Decent Work and Conciliation; Volunteering; Human Rights.
In the 2016 edition, with the institutional support of the AIP - Portuguese Industrial Association, the CIP - Confederation of Portuguese Industry, the CCP - Portuguese Confederation of Trade and Services and the IAPMEI - Institute of Support to Small and Medium Enterprises and Innovation, the Recognition of Social Responsibility Practices involved 24 organizations.
Caixa Geral de Depósitos was recognized for its best practices within the scope of two different projects, in the environment and volunteering area:

The RPRS Gala was held at the Casa do Alentejo's Dr. Vitor Santos Grand Hall, in Lisbon, and was attended, among others, by João Vieira Lopes, Chairman of the CCP, Jorge Marques dos Santos, Chairman of the IPQ, Fátima Duarte, Chairwoman of the CIG, Paula Guimarães, Chairwoman of the Fundação Montepio | Entidade Parceira RPRS – Apoio às Candidaturas da Economia Social, and Mário Parra da Silva, Chairman of the APEE, who congratulated the organizations distinguished for different Social Responsibility projects.

About the APEE - Portuguese Association for Business Ethics
Founded in 2002, the Portuguese Association for Business Ethics has been taking the lead in the standardization processes in the Ethics and Social Responsibility areas, in Portugal, being recognized by the IPQ as a Sectoral Standardization Body. Simultaneously, it supports the Portuguese network of the United Nations Global Compact Agency, it is a member of the Post Publication Organization of the ISO 26000 standard and promotes, annually, the Recognition of Social Responsibility Practices implemented by Portuguese organizations. Its recognition by national (IPQ) and international (ISO and UN) authorities results in a commitment towards the organization of reference events and initiatives, such as the Social Responsibility Week® and the Recognition of Social Responsibility Practices.
