Caixa Mais Mundo Awards

CGD gave Caixa Mais Mundo Awards to the best students from higher education institutions that have signed protocols with the Bank.

For the second year in a row, CGD has rewarded the best national students who enrolled in higher education institutions with protocols signed with CGD, via the national college entrance exam, during the 2019/2020 school year.

Each 1,500€ prize aimed to reward academic merit and encourage students to pursue their academic careers.

With a view to encourage the enrollment in higher education institutions, the Caixa Mais Mundo Awards not only rewards academic merit but also also envisions the creation of opportunities for students with less economic resources or from vulnerable social groups, whose school performance mirrors their interest in pursuing higher education studies.

There are four categories for the awards and scholarships: merit-based prizes; social support-based scholarships; merit-based prizes for students who have graduated from technical courses; and merit-based prizes for students from the following Portuguese-speaking African countries: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Timor, São Tomé and Príncipe.

These awards are part of the Caixa Social program, lie within the Education and Knowledge remit and are the support to higher education is one of their strategic lines of action, contributing to a fairer, more solidary and sustainable society, offering equal opportunities for everyone and preparing the citizens of the future.

«(The Caixa Mais Mundo Award) was awarded to me as a student from a Portuguese-speaking African country, São Tomé and Príncipe.
I have been living in Portugal since I was 11. I thoroughly enjoy learning and at school I have always strived to do my best. I think that investing in my education is the best way to grow up as a person and a citizen, as well as to help my family and the community. With a lot of work and effort, I am starting to fulfil my dream of becoming a nurse. This prize is a reward and an incentive that I did not expect, and I am extremely grateful for it, as it encourages me to carry on working and persevering to achieve my goals.»
