Volunteer service at school
A CGD educational program aimed at young students, based on raising the awareness of young people to the importance of their contribution to Volunteering. Promoting the culture of Volunteer Service in Portugal has been one of the main commitments of the activity of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, framed by its Community Involvement Policy. Aimed at promoting best practices in addressing the challenges of Portuguese society, the innovation of its Volunteer projects has been taken as an example. Through the YoungVolunteam program, CGD intends to promote this topic among schools, based on acquired experiences and platforms developed, raising awareness and mobilizing students for Volunteer Service.
This program aims to promote the theme of Volunteer Service among school clusters with Secondary Education schools, and in Secondary Schools across the country, enhancing the recognition of the importance of their contribution to the development of basic skills in young people in different areas: social inclusion, education, entrepreneurship, employment and citizenship.
The Young VolunTeam Programme has the following main goals:
Raise awareness among the entire school community to the practice of volunteer service as an expression of active citizenship; Strengthen the recognition of the importance of their contribution to the development of basic skills in young people in different areas: social inclusion, education, entrepreneurship, employment and citizenship. Create a new active citizenship space, with opportunities for learning and participation that not only promote solidarity, but also mobility, curiosity, openness, and entrepreneurship among students; Contribute to improving the position occupied by Portugal in the European ranking of youth volunteering, and become a success case to be used as an example for developing new projects in the field of social responsibility.
