Don't know what to do with your expired, cancelled or obsolete cards?

It's simple: hand them in for recycling at a CGD branch office, where they will be transformed into furniture for the Community.

The Environmental Management System, a project within the scope of CGD's Sustainability Program, aims to reduce the environmental impacts of the Bank's activity, by implementing a number of initiatives in relevant areas: energy, water, CO2 emissions, waste, and consumption of materials, among others.

By being aware of the efficient waste management’s importance, CGD has developed a system for recycling expired or unused cards as an opportunity for improvement.

Through this initiative, bank cards (expired or at the end of their useful life) and otherwise (for example, plastic loyalty cards) can be reused by recycling the plastic.

CGD is committed to developing innovative approaches which maximise the recovery of its waste, transforming it into equipment that positively impacts the Community and the Environment.

The PVC waste resulting from the shredding of these cards is incorporated into the production of urban furniture made from 100% recycled plastic.

This project is being carried out in collaboration with Extruplás, the company responsible for gathering and recycling the cards, as well as producing the urban furniture which CGD provides to Social Solidarity institutions, subject to identification by ENTRAJUDA.

Hand your out-of-date cards in at any CGD branch. We can guarantee the confidentiality of your card details and help protect the environment by recycling plastic. Together, with small actions, we can all contribute to a better future.

From 2015 to 2023, thanks to its contribution, this project has already enabled the collection of around 6.242 million cards, corresponding to 31.210 tons.

This initiative materizalised in the donation of 36 articles of urban furniture, supporting twenty-two social welfare institutions.
