In its environmental policy, Caixa Geral de Depósitos takes on a commitment to defend and preserve resources that are common to all citizens – natural resources –, Floresta Caixa being one of the most emblematic educational programs dedicated to children.

Throughout the years, this program has promoted several projects dedicated to raising the population’s awareness, mainly that of the younger generations, through initiatives catering to environmental responsibility, educating to the need for reducing CO2 concentration in the atmosphere and aiming to manage and reduce the effects of climate change. The importance of each young individual exercising their active citizenship in protecting the forest heritage and the national biodiversity motivated CGD to make a long-term Investment in a legacy for the future of our children.

In 2016, we released, on the Native Forest Day and on the day Floresta Caixa completed 10 years, the new children’s book A História do Príncipe que foi Rei (“The Story of a Prince who was King”), a book that strengthens our connection to Portugal’s Natural Heritage.
